Dampskipsbrygga turns green during The Tall Ships Races

- Many people may be sceptical about vegetarian food, but if there's one time you should try it, it's at Dampskipsbrygga this summer. We have gathered some of the country's best food trucks and are excited to show Fredrikstad and all visitors how much delicious vegetarian food that exists," says Heidi Røneid, the founder of Oslo Vegetarian Festival.

- Often, it's just about trying the food. We have familiar dishes and flavours like Asian dinners, French crepes, and delightful ice cream. We can promise that people will find something they truly like!

Reduce your carbon footprint with plant-based food

Oslo Vegetarian Festival became well-known in Fredrikstad when they catered for Månefestivalen (local music festival) in 2022. This year, the vegetarian options expand with catering available at both the Månefestivalen and The Tall Ships Races.

Plant-based food has a lower carbon footprint. A vegetarian meal usually emits around 0.5 kg of CO2, while a meat-based meal typically emits 7-10 times more (numbers from Klimato). In addition to vegetarian food, Oslo Vegetarian Festival also offers food for people with allergies.

- The food will be without eggs and milk, so people with allergies can enjoy a delightful ice cream in the sun or warm French pancakes with chocolate sauce," says Røneid.

The area at Dampskipsbrygga will be like a festival within the festival, with activities and entertainment.

- Here, you can enjoy delicious street food while watching the moored sailboats and the vibrant atmosphere outside, says project manager for TSRF, Knut R. Hansen.
