Crew Facilities

CREW CENTRE

The Crew Centre is located in the Main Library. Look for the large brick building by the Main Stage in the Library Park. The entrance is located on the left side of the building from the main entrance. You can also enter through the main entrance. Come and relax, hang out with other crew members, play board games, borrow sports equipment, get important information, borrow bicycles to get around town. Water, coffee and fruits are free of charge. Access is for crew members with TSR wristband, and local youths. Get to know the locals! CREW SHOWER FACILITIES

Fredrikstad football stadium, Stadion 1. Entrance from the waterfront. The stadium is located on the Kråkerøy side of the river. Opening times: Friday: 12.00-23.00 Saturday-Monday: 07.00-23.00 Tuesday: 07.00-12.00 Bring your own towel and soap.

CREW LAUNDRY FACILITIES

Fredrikstad football stadium, Stadion 1 (same place as the shower facility). Opening times: Friday 14. juli: 12.00-23.00 Saturday 15 -Monday 17: 07.00-23.00 Tuesday 18. juli: 07.00-12.00 Staff will provide you with laundry detergent. Showers and laundry facilities are free of charge. Toilet facilities are located at the Crew Centre, Fredrikstad Football Stadium and several other locations around the city.

SATURDAY 15 JULY

Official Opening Ceremony

When: 18:00–18:45

Location: Library Park, Main Stage

Join us in the official opening of The Tall Ships Races Fredrikstad 2023! This entertaining cultural event is free and open to all.

SUNDAY 16 JULY

Crew Competition — Isegran Cup

When: 10:00–13:00

Location: Isegran

Gather your fellow crew teams (3–5 people on each team) and compete against other crew teams in 20 different disciplines where knowledge and practical skills will be put to the test. The five best teams meet in a final. Bring gym wear and trainers.

Paralell Crew Activities

When: 10:00–13:00 (Drop-in)

Location: Isegran (see map). Nearby Crew Competition.

Try out volleyball, slacklining, crocket, rope pulling, precision throw with a lifeline and a climbing wall. Bring gym wear and trainers.

Crew Parade

When: 3 PM–4 PM. Meet up at 2.30 PM!

Location: Near Tollbodplassen (see map) – look for a sign with the name of your vessel.

The parade (2 km) goes through the city centre and ends up at the Library Park. Bring outfits and props that make the parade fun for both crew and spectators.

Tip! Make your own costumes at the Costume Making Workshop at the Cinema on Saturday or Sunday before the parade.

Prize-giving Ceremony

When: 4 pm

Location: Library Park, Main Stage

The prize-giving ceremony will begin immediately after the Crew Parade.

Additional special awards include:

Crew Party

When: Sunday 16 July, 7 pm – 11 pm

Location: Sveisehall 1, FMV Vest (see map in crew handbook)

The Liaison Officer assigned to your ship will walk you to the party.

Admission for crew members wearing TSR wristband and the Crew Party wristband provided by STI only. The wristband will be handed out on your ship. Valid ID must be shown when entering the Crew Party (Copy of passport or other valid ID).

Beverages will be served according to the colour of your wristband. Only drinks served/bought on the premises are allowed. You may buy extra beverages and pay by credit card. Please note that according to Norwegian legislation it is illegal to serve alcohol to any person under the age of 18.

Crew After Party (no registration)

When: Sunday 10:30 pm - 1:00 am

Location: Main Library (Grand Hall)

Silent Disco! Non-alcoholic event. No age restriction, open to all crew with TSR wristband. Limited capacity. First come, first served.

Gaming Paradiso – FIFA Tournament

When: Saturday 3 pm – 8 pm

Location: Fredrikstad Cinema, in the foyer

Welcome to a major FIFA tournament starting at 3:00 PM for crews participating in The Tall Ships Races, with its own commentator and prizes!

Sign up your crew by scanning the QR code, and find «Gaming Paradiso (FIFA Tournament)». The competition will be conducted with teams of three.
Registration deadline: Sat 2 pm
Registered participants will have priority access to gaming stations. Drop-in is also possible.

Gaming Paradiso - Daily mini-tournaments

When: Saturday, Sunday and Monday, 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

Join daily mini-tournaments in Mario Kart, Fortnite, and Rocket League. Note: Age restrictions for the games apply for participation.

All gaming activities and competitions are free.

Registered participants will have priority access to gaming stations.

Riverside clean-up & excursion to Foten beach

When: Sun 9 am – 11 am
Meet up outside the Crew Centre 15 mins before departure (bus).

Number of participants: Max 100

Help our local environmental organization, Elv og Hav (River and Ocean), to remove waste from land before it ends up in the river and ocean. Help us protect marine life. We will take the bus to an area to clear garbage.

After the clean up session, as a reward, the day continues at Foten beach for a swim.

Bring swimwear, comfortable shoes and a backpack/bag. We serve lunch.

Morning Yoga in Hope Cathedral

When: Sunday and Monday 9 am – 9.50 am

Location: Hope Cathedral on Isegran

Start the morning fresh with soft morning yoga in the beautiful Hope Cathedral on Isegran.

Welcome to a meditative and calm hour, with plenty of time for introduction and relaxation. Train flexibility, strength, balance, and breath at your own pace. This session is suitable for beginners and experienced individuals who prefer a slow-paced yoga practice. The yoga session is based on Hatàyoga.

No equipment necessary. Wear comfortable clothing that allows for movement.

Duration: 50 minutes.

Capacity: 25 people.

Registration deadline: Saturday 6 pm

Guided tour of Roald Amundsen’s birthplace

When: Monday 11 am – 1 pm (2 hrs)

Location: Departure from outside the Crew Centre

Meet up 15 mins before departure (bus)

Visit the birthplace and learn about the great Norwegian explorer, Roald Amundsen, with a special guided tour. See the house and enjoy the place and scenery where it all began. Open café with possibility to buy something to tame the hunger.

Street basket – Drop-in and Tournament

When: Monday 12 pm – 4 pm

DROP-IN STREET BASKET (NO REGISTRATION REQUIERED)
Between 12:00 PM and 2:00 PM, you can learn basic and advanced basketball techniques with instruction from a local Street Basketball Club.

BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT (REGISTRATION REQUIRED)
Between 2:00 PM and 4:00 PM, you can participate in a basketball tournament against fellow crew members or new friends. The day concludes with a Street Basketball tournament, where the winners will be crowned.

You don't need to bring any equipment. Wear clothes you can move in. Music, snacks and friendly competition are on the menu – welcome!
